At the start of pregnancy, you already have an idea of how your future will look like. With an additional number in your life, you plan for everything. Where the baby will sleep, what the little angle will wear and eat. To an extend that you read books to get you prepared.

What those books don’t tell you is what kind of child you’ll have.

You learn those things as you go with time and patience

The little things like “will my baby be strongly willed ” which by the way it’s a whole new adventure. Those books don’t tell you how to teach your child how walk-in the right path…

My cousin brought my little nice and nephew to me to babysit. At first, everything was fine. We were laying games and laughing, then everything suddenly changed during shower time.

I asked the oldest who just turned four if I could give her a bath. The little thing said and this is what almost gave me a heart attack ” aunty I am a big girl I can shower alone if I need help I’ll call you”. To tell you I was dumbfounded is an understatement.

Then came my nephew’s turn, mind you he’s two, I got him ready, tickling and laughing. When I finally opened the shower all hell broke loose. He started crying saying that today was his mothers turn to shower him. I tried to calm him down and assure him that his mother will shower him the next day, he didn’t have it.

The thing about strong-willed children, you just have to be patient. Lower your voice and speak calmly. Children have a way of knowing when you panic and they end up being more cranky.

I got into the bathtub with him(fully clothed) and we just sat there for fifteen minutes till he calmed down and I finally went straight to bed.

I learned that you can never be fully prepared with children.

Kids are like a clock. As the numbers change so does their behavior and personality. All you can do is trust your motherly instincts
